Belém Experience Jeronimos Monastery

We will start our visit in one of the most emblematic gardens of Belém neighbourghood, Afonso de Alburquerque I will reveal some of the secrets of the manueline Portuguese architecture. We continue throught the main street and other gardens with an unusual Thai Temple.
Whit the Belém Experience Jeronimos Monastery, we continue the journey to enjoy the original and unique custard tarts of Belém. The traditional Pasteis de Belém in the only factory where they produce them since 1837. A completely delicious treat to keep discovering the best of this area of Lisbon.
We travel back into the Age of the Portuguese discoveries. We visit the most important monument dedicated to the explorers. A impressive boat with Henry the Navigator leading this crew from the Portugal golden age. Also is impressive a hidden world map right in the center of the square of the Padrao dos Descubrimentos. You learn about the Portuguese Empire and some anecdotes regarding the Codfish!
We walk by the riverside until reach Belém Tower, this old military fortress, declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 1983. The tower of Saint Vincent that was protecting the entrance of Lisbon back in the 16th century.
Also around the Belém Tower gardens, we can find a plane that represents the important achievement of the Portuguse Aviation History. On the other side of the garden we have an important war museum that used to be a military fortress with a Memorial dedicated to the soldiers of the wars.
An incredible trip back in Portuguese history with beautiful monuments and views to the Atlantic Ocean.
